The high-flying administration of the Olasoju Adebayo in Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has recorded yet another achievement in the aspect of roads and infrastructural development with the completion of Ibadan Street in Ilasamaja Ward.

The road which is the second phase of the tripartite Baale/Ibadan/Cecilia-Odutuga road project has been completely interlocked to connect with the already completed Baale Street. With its both sides drainage and ongoing installation of solar-powered street-lights, the development was greeted with heartfelt excitement by residents and road users alike who lauded the council boss for his intentional leadership and commitment to infrastructural renewal.

Recall that the council boss had during the Budget Consultative Stakeholders forum held in the council secretariat earlier in the month assured of fast-pace of work on all ongoing developmental projects across the council while also reiterating his commitment to put in place more legacy projects across the various wards in the council area.

With the completion of the long-stretch Ibadan Street, residents on ground who spoke to the media team were full of praises for the council boss moreso for the quality of the project and the speed of time with which it was executed.

“We closely monitored this project and cooperated with the contractor from the groundbreaking till they laid the interlock and I have nothing but admiration and commendation for the chairman. This road is an important connecting road in Ilasamaja and there’s no way the government will want to fix Baale that they won’t need to fix Ibadan, Cecilia Odutuga to Ogunbowale and this is exactly what the chairman is doing. We are grateful and commending his visionary and intentional leadership,” enthused a resident who identified himself as Saka.

In the words of Mr. Saheed Aremu, one of the proprietors of Sonic Private School and chairman of Ibadan Street Residents’ Association: “I’ve been on this street for over 25 years. Our school started, precisely, in year 2000 and we’ve had to endure a lot when it comes to erosion on this street. On this street alone we have a private hospital, school and other thriving businesses but our experience with the hitherto bad status of the road wasn’t palatable. At times when we invite police or firefighters, they find it difficult to get here due to the dilapidated state of the road but now everything is expanded and we are confident that the development will touch our businesses positively. On behalf of the residents and business owners on this street, I’m saying a resounding ‘Thank you’ to the council chairman for delivering on his promises.”

Separately, a prominent resident and stakeholder on the street, Alhaja Adejumo and the Medical Director of a Tabernacle Clinics, Dr. Oyedele thumbed up the council boss for the development while pledging their commitment to see to it that residents and other road users take ownership of the road and guide against indiscriminate waste disposal to ensure that the drainage system is not clogged.

While the fixing of Solar-powered streetlights are underway on the said Ibadan Street, the construction of the adjoining Cecilia Odutuga is expected to resume in due course as works had begun on the drainage system.
