The Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo, on Friday joined the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the commissioning and official state takeover of the newly constructed Startimes Estate Fire Station, Ago-Palace Way, Isolo.

The state-of-the-art facility built through the efforts and collective commitment of the estate was inaugurated by the Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Gbenga Oyerinde.

In his keynote address, the governor lauded the estate for what he described as a generous donation describing it as: “a beautiful addition to our safety infrastructure that strengthens our capacity to protect lives, properties and livelihood.”

As the chief host, Olasoju expressed profound appreciation for the estate’s dedication to supporting his administration’s developmental strides and, by extension, the Lagos State smart city vision by way of the construction of the modern fire station.

While noting that the facility will reduce reliance on Isolo and Mile 2 fire stations, Olasoju stressed that the Okota community is long overdue for a fire station due to its humongous size and massive inhabitants; maintaining that sustainable growth is best achieved through strong collaboration among stakeholders.

He applauded the enclosed community for adopting the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to complement government efforts in enhancing security and safeguarding lives and property. According to him, such forward-thinking initiatives continue to position the council area as a community that reflects the aspirations of its people.

Giving his assurance to residents that his administration remains unwavering in its commitment to impactful development across all sectors, he urged the community to remain steadfast as active partners in progress with the government to consolidate the gains already achieved and drive further transformation across Isolo.

Earlier in his address, the estate Chairman, Vitalis Ekowu Esq. explained that the facility is not just a physical structure but symbol of preparedness and a measure of proactive safety against fire disasters stressing that what his community has achieved is: ‘an obvious proof that development is fastest and most impactful when communities and government walk the same path with mutual respect and shared goals.”

Following the exchange of handover and takeover documents between the Estate’s Board of Trustees led by Barrister Chito Ezeani and the Comptroller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, CG Margaret Adeseye, the facility was formally renamed from Startimes Estate Fire Station to Lagos State Fire and Rescue, Statimes, Okota. Governor Sanwo-Olu thereafter cut the ribbon around the imposing structure and unveiled the commemorative plaque before leading other dignitaries on a tour round the facility.

Notable among other dignitaries in attendance included the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties; Mr. Sesan Ogundeko, the councilors led by the legislative leader, Hon. Yusuf Oni, Isolo Community Development Committee (CDC) led by Hon. Adesegun Olatunde among others.
