The Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo has restated his council's preparedness to observe and enforce the May edition of the re-introduced Lagos Monthly Sanitation Exercise.
Olasoju made this known via a release published at about noon on Friday by his media office. According to the council boss, machinery has been set in motion to consolidate on the gains of the first edition held last month as far as relevant departments of the council and logistics are concerned.
"I want to make it known to the good people of Isolo LCDA that we have concluded plans to observe the re-introduced Lagos Monthly Sanitation Exercise tomorrow - Saturday 30th May. Relevant departments of the council have been mobilised while logistics have been sourced sufficiently. We are determined to consolidate on the gains of last month's edition given the visible level of cleanliness noticed after the exercise" part of the release read.
Delving into the enforceability of the several exercise, Olasoju made it clear that compliance isn't going to be compromised as his council can't afford to lag behind other council areas in rating.
"I wish to make it expressly clear that compliance is expected to be 100% and anyone found wanting may not find it funny with us. We can't afford to be the black sheep among local governments because the exercise is being monitored by state agencies/parastatals who are empowered to rate every council by their level of performance. It will be a shameful thing if our council is relegated to the underperforming zone. I'm pleading with our people to make it a point of duty to make their environment habitable for themselves because as they say; cleanliness is next to godliness" Olasoju concluded.
The exercise commences by 6:30am and ends by 8:30am with restriction placed on human and vehicular movement except those who fall under special services.
