ISLAMIC NEW YEAR: OLASOJU FELICITATES MUSLIMS, URGES PURSUIT OF ALJANAT THROUGH PIETY, GOOD DEEDS AND PATRIOTISM

Isolo, Lagos

Tues. 16th June, '26.

The Executive Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Olasoju Adebayo, has extended warm felicitations to Muslims across Isolo LCDA and around the world on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1448 A.H.

In his goodwill message marking the historic occasion of Hijrah, Hon. Adebayo called on adherents of the Islamic faith to embrace the lessons of Prophet Muhammad's (SAW) migration from Makkah to Madinah by strengthening their devotion to Allah, promoting peace, and dedicating themselves to righteous deeds that earn divine favour and eternal reward.

The council chairman noted that the Islamic New Year presents an opportunity for spiritual reflection, renewal of faith, and recommitment to the values of compassion, honesty, sacrifice, discipline, and service to humanity.

According to him, "The beginning of a new Hijrah year is not merely a change in date; it is a reminder of the courage, perseverance and unwavering faith exemplified by the Holy Prophet (SAW). It calls on us to examine our lives and rededicate ourselves to the pursuit of Aljanat through sincere worship, good character and service to fellow human beings."

Olaosju urged Muslims to increase acts of charity, support the less privileged, uphold justice, and contribute positively to the development of their communities and the nation at large. He further emphasized the place of patriotism in Islam, noting that love for one's homeland and commitment to its progress are virtues encouraged by Islamic teachings.

"Islam teaches us to be responsible citizens. A peaceful and prosperous society can only be built when individuals play their part in promoting unity, lawful conduct, and national development. As Muslims, we must demonstrate our faith not only in worship but also in our commitment to the welfare and progress of our communities and country," he said. The chairman added that the spirit of Hijrah should inspire Nigerians to rise above divisions, foster mutual understanding, and work collectively towards a more harmonious and prosperous society.

Offering prayers for the Muslim Ummah, the council boss prayed that Allah grants all faithful the grace to witness many more Hijrah celebrations in good health, abundant blessings, and spiritual fulfillment.

He said: "May Allah accept our prayers, forgive our shortcomings, reward our good deeds, and guide us on the path that leads to Aljanat. May He bless our families, our communities, our nation, and grant us the opportunity to witness many more Islamic New Years in peace and prosperity."

The Public Relation Officer of Conference 57 Chairmen, Lagos State concluded by wishing all Muslims a peaceful, rewarding and spiritually uplifting 1448 A.H., urging them to make the new year a period of renewed commitment to faith, righteousness, patriotism and lives dedicated to advancing humanity.
