ISOLO LCDA, LASG SENSITISES RESIDENTS ON CRITICAL LAWS, AS COUNCIL BOSS REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO CONTINUOUS CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
Isolo, Lagos
Thurs. 22nd Jan. ‘26
The Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo has partnered the Lagos State Government Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement to further drive sensitization on the Laws bordering Human Organ Harvesting and Tissue Translant, Victims’ Assistance and Witness Protection and the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency in the state.
The laws are part of the five transformative laws enacted by the State government last December to safeguard the rights, welfare and security of residents across the state.
In his remarks, Olasoju expressed delight at the program describing it as timely and thoughtful to complement his administration’s constant propagation of various laws, government policies and programs.
The council boss, who was represented at the event by one of his aides, Mr. Abiola Ibrahim Ayinde-Marshal, harped on the importance of the laws as he reflected on the council’s ongoing partnership with LASCOPA to cite their office on the council secretariat in order to bring the agency closer to residents of Isolo LCDA.
“This program is laudable and timely and it aligns with our administration’s policy of promoting governmental policies and programs. The fact is; ignorance is not and will never be an excuse before the law and enough cannot be done to attune the public to the laws be it the ones that will protect them or those that grant them certain rights. We mobilise stakeholders across various strata to this program who will in turn take it back to their various organizations.
“LASCOPA is almost done citing their office on our premises here to bring consumer protection closer to our people. While we won’t relent on our impactful program, we won’t also slow down in partnering with government agencies across the state and federal level to make living better and enjoyable for our people,” Olasoju said.
Addressing the attendees and giving insight into the laws were the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore as well as representatives from LASCOPA and Citizens’ Mediation Bureau among others. The took turns to deliver their speeches while providing responses to grey area and questions about the laws and other programs of the state government.
The audience included the leadership and members of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Market men and women, members of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local branch as well as political stakeholders among others.
