6TH WASILAT OLARONKE AYINDE-MARSHAL MEMORIAL QURANIC COMPETITION HOLDS WITH GRANDEUR AS FEMALE CONTESTANTS DOMINATE CATEGORIES, WIN STAR PRIZES

Isolo, Lagos

Mon. 2nd March ‘26

Female contenders stood up to their male counterparts at the 6th Edition of Wasilat Olaronke Ashabi Ayinde-Marshal Memorial Quranic Competition organised by Ilerioluwa Organization in conjunction with Penckers School. The event held, as usual, on the premises of Daaru Dawat Wal Irishad Arabic Institute, Isolo on Sunday saw the star prizes in both categories of the contest going the way of the often called weaker gender.

Soft-spoken Nadratullah Aisha Aderoju won for herself the star prize of an all-expense paid trip to Saudi Arabia for Umrah later in the year beating such other contenders like Ibrahim-Amin UmmulKhayr and Muhamad Jamiu Shafih to second and third positions respectively in the category of Melodious Voice.

For the senior category, a 3-time contestant Nadratullah Afuwape stole the show with her unmatched  memorization and recitation of the Holy Qur’an edging out Ibrahim-Amin UmmulKhayr and Muhammed Jamiu Safih who came second and third respectively.

Afuwape not only won for herself the grand prize of One Million Naira but also an all-expense paid pilgrimage to Makkah, to assert  the female contestants’ dominance of the 6th edition of the competition.

On the sides, handsome prices went the way of excelling contestants for punctuality where the last year's winner - Mr. Kamilu Baruwa carried the day while selected pupils who rendered Prophet Muhammad's panegyrics (Moodiu Rosul) went home with mouthwatering material and cash gifts from Olasoju and his invited allies.

When called upon to deliver a short lecture, Sheik Abdul Raheem Alli preferred to pray for the repose of Sheik Mustapha Zuglool's soul saying delivering any lecture on the institute's premises could be an affront to the memory of Late Zuglool who moulded him into what he has become.

In his address, competition sole sponsor - Olasoju Adebayo declared all contestants winners as he lauded the judges for their professionalism, impartiality and fairness. He stressed that the importance of the competition was to bring people closer to Almighty Allah and inculcate His teachings in all and sundry, as the late Alhaja Wasilat Ayinde-Marshal; a devout Muslimah, would have wanted. Speaking further, Olasoju urged the audience to sustain piety and adherence to Almighty Allah beyond Ramadan.

He appreciated the generous supporters of the program which included, Omo’ba Adeola Adetoro; Executive Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Govt., Otunba Jide Oni, CSP Waheed Gbadamosi, Alhaja Suliyat Kasumu (Malo), Hon. Fatai Ayoola, and star actor; Femi Adebayo among others.

Notable among other dignitaries in attendance included High Chief Babatunde Oladeinde Shekoni, Baale Isale Odo; High Chief Adebari Agbabiaka, Baale of Apakun Osuro; Chief Kazeem Faronbi, Baale of Kusoru; High Chief Samudeen Adele, other Nollywood stars Fathia Balogun, Sola Kosoko, Kemi Korede, Aduke Amodu as well as Isolo LCDA’s management staff led by the Council Manager, Mr. Rasheed Bada Bawa  among others.
